Late night in the office.

Late late night, no knitting tonight. Sorry to dissapoint you all. Anyhow i finished three more rows yesterday. The square measures about 25-30 cm x 5 cm right now. will post the project progress in loggbook form when ive knitted another cm. Yeah 30cm not 20 as i said earlier, it seams like i under estimated the lenght before. Wonder what the exact lenght is? Im gonna measure it as soon as i get home. do you reccon you measure it while its streached or neutral?

Im gonna measure it in neutral state and also streched state and post on the blog. Just to cover all aspects of this fantastic project.

Talked with a girl at the office today, told her about the blog. She wondered if i knew about circular knitting. Somewhat like a spiral or something. I answered: No, im N E W to knitting.

She talked some more and i listened with one ear, for circular knitting you use two small sticks with a thread at the bottom.

THEN IT HIT ME: EXACTLY LIKE IN THE BLUE CHINESE MOVIE.

Ah good that i didnt follow it completly. Then i would only be knitting in circles...

It all got out of hand!

Oh man oh man, it all went out of hand! As i started to knit yesterday i aimed for a 10 cm square. All newbs out there take this advice: 10 cm och tight cast on turns into 20 cm och knitting when you start!

So now the project accadently took new form.

The new project: 20 cm square.

... This is going to take for ever. Its my first project and i cant wait to see the look on peoples eyes when i uncover my work at a knitting convention. The knitting pro´s gonna drop their cheeks.

Lessons learned so far:
1. Dont knit to hard. Try to knit with the same strength all the time. Otherwise the fabric will lean and be missshaped.
2. 10 cm of cast on equals 20 cm when you start to knit.
3. Don knit to long, your gonna hurt your hands. knitting makes hem move in ways you thought were impossible.
4. Knitting has been around for a long time. Also knitting takes a long time.

Now i introduce a new feature on the blog. Just to make it easy for you to follow the project progress.

Project loggbook - chapter 1:
Today i woke up, tuned on the tv and watched a debate for one knitting row. took about three minutes. Its hard to tell how many rows i finished but its about 20cm x 2 cm right now. Sadly i have to focus on work tonight but ill continue the peice as soon as i can. propably two rows before bedtime.

Over and out / Black.

Cast on mastered!

Learnt the cast on by watching the two videos. Wonder if the girl in the movie is left handed because the video with the blue background is reversed. Anyhow its easy both ways. Maybe just a matter of taste? im gonna follow the girls tutorial mainly and chack the blue one for closeup reference.

Cast on about 10 cm. Shes right about having a long long tail, it shrinks fast.

This introduces my first projekt!

The 10 cm Square.

Just read the wiki.

Hello world!

I just finished eyeing the wiki. The basic information there:

1. knitting have been around for a long time.
2. you can knit in a lot of different ways.
3. and the most relevant issue right now, the process.

the process and its 3 steps.
1. knitting starts with casting on.
2. then you knit the body.
3. the castoff.

there might be more to the process but now im gonna learn how to cast on.

Inspiration

Brown here, this is my first post on this blog. The wikipedia entry on knitting is a nice place to start for the more technical part but I think inspiration is equally as important for some good knitting work. This is a good place to see what we soon should be able to create with just yarn and sticks!

Where to start?

ok, now when the blog is up and running and almost grew to a small movement lets start knitting! Ive got the sticks and the yarn, but how does it all work? i recall doing this ons in school but that must have been around 17 years since. Also i reckon i cant be that hard to knit if i was doing this at such a young age.

To seperate the posts from each other i creatad a genious system. We sign our posts.
I bought a black yarn for me and a red and a brown for my friends. So im black and my friends are red and brown.

wiki is allways a good place to start so lets see what they have to say about knitting.

Get back to you after reading wiki.

Just started knitting!

Hi there!

I just started to knit. It all began yesterday when i woke up hung over and just because i was terribly restless i played around with my cellphone and gave my father a call. My kid sister answered and we started to talk.

She lives far from here and right now shes working the nightshift as an personal assistant. So while the client sleeps she does all sorts of things, the day before yesterday she made trucks out of folded paper and this night she knitted.

I was pretty hung over so i thought knitting was the best and most exiting idea ive heard in a while. As i walked around shopping with my friend i just couldent get the knitting thing out of my head. Decided to go and buy some knitting things.

A friend invited me for dinner that night and i figured that knittingthings was a great gift! so i bought a couple of sticks and some yarn for them aswell.

Not much of a backstory but my decition to buy knittingthings wasent that lifechanging either... Or was it!?! Lets see together as we cruisade thowards me knitting.

Also knittingthings as a gift was very appriciated. So thats a tip.

Over and out.
